Message from the Vice Dean
Welcome to our Round Rock campus! You’ll find a vibrant, community-based medical education experience in one of the most desirable places to live and work in the country. In 2007, we were given a remarkable opportunity---to start a new College of Medicine campus in an ideal location. We were able to learn what did and did not work from older medical centers, and, more importantly, from what students told us would transform them into exemplary physicians. Armed with this knowledge and a blank canvas on which to create, we have shaped an educational experience that emphasizes excellence in intellect, empathy, and patient-centered care.
Our educational program is based in clinical affiliates with new, state-of-the-art hospitals and an ambulatory care system that provides over 150,000 patient care visits each year. Our faculty members are carefully selected for their dedication to patient care and education. This offers students one-on-one interaction with experienced clinicians, in addition to remarkable opportunities for a direct patient care experience, and a chance to learn both the science and the art of medicine.
Within our Central Texas medical community, students also learn about real-life medical practice models, from private practice to multi-specialty group practice, and innovative care systems providing medical homes and access to specialty care for Medicaid patients and the medically underserved population.
Sound like an ideal learning environment? We think so. And, we are dedicated to continual educational enhancement reflecting student and faculty feedback and creativity. All this is offered in a beautiful living environment attractive to single professionals, couples, and young families. Our students, faculty, patients, and communities are special partners in medical education. We are committed to training superlative physicians who excel at cutting edge medicine practiced with compassion and care. Come visit us and see where you fit.
